Shipping Information
At The Forgotten Find, we understand that shipping antique and vintage furniture requires special care and attention. We work with experienced furniture shipping specialists to ensure your treasures arrive safely at their new home.
Domestic Shipping
We ship nationwide within the United States. Shipping rates vary based on:
- Item size and weight
- Delivery destination
- Shipping method selected
- Special handling requirements
Estimated shipping costs will be calculated at checkout or provided with your invoice. For large items, we may contact you to discuss shipping options and costs before finalizing your order.
International Shipping
We offer international shipping for select items. International shipping costs are calculated on a case-by-case basis. Please note that:
- Buyer is responsible for all import duties, taxes, and customs fees
- Delivery timeframes may be extended for international shipments
- Some large items may have limited international shipping options
- We cannot ship to all countries - please inquire before purchase
Shipping Methods
We offer the following shipping methods:
Standard Shipping
For smaller items up to 30 lbs. Typically delivered within 5-10 business days within the continental US.
Freight Shipping
For larger furniture pieces. Delivery time typically ranges from 2-3 weeks depending on destination. Freight shipments are delivered to the curb only, unless white glove service is purchased.
White Glove Delivery
Our premium delivery service includes:
- In-home delivery to your room of choice
- Professional placement of the item
- Packaging removal and disposal
- Basic assembly if required
White Glove Delivery is available for an additional fee calculated based on item size and delivery location.
Local Pickup
We offer free local pickup from our showroom in Charleston, SC. Please schedule pickup appointments at least 24 hours in advance.
Delivery Timeframes
Due to the unique nature of our inventory, each item is processed and shipped individually. General delivery timeframes are:
- Processing time: 1-3 business days for most items
- Standard shipping: 5-10 business days after processing
- Freight shipping: 2-3 weeks after processing
- White Glove Delivery: 2-4 weeks after processing (requires scheduling)
- International shipping: 3-6 weeks after processing (varies by destination)
Please note that these timeframes are estimates and may vary based on item availability, shipping destination, carrier delays, and other factors outside our control.
Tracking
Once your order ships, you will receive tracking information via email. For White Glove Delivery, our delivery partner will contact you directly to schedule a delivery appointment.
Packaging
We take exceptional care in packaging our items to ensure safe transit. Our packaging methods include:
- Custom crating for fragile or valuable pieces
- Multiple layers of protective materials
- Corner and edge protection for furniture
- Secure bracing for internal components
- Climate-sensitive packaging for delicate finishes
While our packaging is designed to protect items during normal shipping conditions, we recommend purchasing shipping insurance for valuable items.
Returns Policy
Due to the unique nature of antique and vintage items, all sales are generally final. However, we accept returns under the following circumstances:
Eligible Return Reasons
- Item arrives damaged despite proper packaging
- Item is substantially different from its description or photographs
- Item is not as represented in terms of condition, age, or authenticity
Return Process
- Contact us within 48 hours of receiving your item
- Include photographs of any damage or discrepancies
- Provide your order number and detailed description of the issue
- Wait for our return authorization before shipping any item back
Return Conditions
For approved returns:
- Items must be returned in the same condition they were received
- Original packaging must be used whenever possible
- Returns must be shipped within 7 days of return authorization
- Return shipping must include tracking and appropriate insurance
Return Shipping
Return shipping responsibilities:
- If the return is due to our error (item not as described, damaged, etc.), we will cover return shipping costs
- If the return is for any other reason, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs
- For large items requiring freight or specialized shipping, we can help arrange return shipping at the customer's expense
Refunds
Once we receive and inspect the returned item:
- Approved refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days
- Refunds will be issued to the original payment method
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error
- A restocking fee of 15% may apply for certain returns that are not due to our error
Non-Returnable Items
The following items cannot be returned:
- Custom orders or specially sourced items
- Items marked as "Final Sale" or "No Returns"
- Items damaged due to improper use, storage, or handling after delivery
- Items that have been altered, repaired, or refinished by the customer
Exchanges
Due to the unique nature of our inventory, we typically do not offer direct exchanges. If you need to return an item and purchase another, these will be handled as separate transactions.
Damaged Items
In the rare event that an item arrives damaged:
- Document the damage with photographs immediately upon delivery
- Do not refuse the shipment, as this complicates the claims process
- Note any visible package damage on the delivery receipt
- Contact us within 48 hours with photos and details
We will work with you and our shipping partners to resolve the issue through repair, replacement (if available), or refund.
